Common use of Foreign Firm or Institution Clause in Contracts

Foreign Firm or Institution. A firm or institution organized or existing under the laws of a country other than the United States, its territories, or possessions. The term includes any agency or instrumentality of a foreign government; and firms, institutions or business organizations which are owned or substantially controlled by foreign governments, firms, institutions, or individuals. Government: The government of the United States of America. Government Purpose Rights: The right to use, modify, reproduce, release, perform, display, or disclose data pertaining to a particular item within the Government without restriction, but may release or disclose the data outside the Government only for government purposes. Invention: Any process, machine, software, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof, which is or may be patentable or otherwise protectable under title 35 of the United States Code. Party: The Government or the Performer.
