Common use of Formal Referral Clause in Contracts

Formal Referral. A formal referral occurs when all three of the following conditions exist: 3.9.1. delinquent conduct, conduct indicating a need for supervision, or violation of probation was allegedly committed; 3.9.2. the juvenile probation department has jurisdiction and venue; and 3.9.3. the officer or official designated by the Grantee has either: a. made face-to-face contact with the juvenile and the alleged offense has been presented as the reason for this contact; or b. given written or verbal authorization to detain the juvenile.
