INDIAN PREFERENCE CONTRACTING Sample Clauses

The Indian Preference Contracting clause establishes a requirement or preference for awarding contracts to Indian-owned businesses or entities when procuring goods or services. In practice, this means that, when possible, contracting authorities must give priority to qualified Indian organizations or individuals during the selection process, often as part of federal or tribal projects. This clause is designed to promote economic development and self-sufficiency within Indian communities by ensuring they have greater access to contracting opportunities.
