Individual Contract Extensions. Either inability or refusal of the teacher to extend their school year beyond the normal 187 days, or an extension other than those required by State law, shall in no way affect the status of their employment. Each teacher who teaches a program that is extended due to program requirements per ▇▇▇▇▇, shall have the option of not working the summer contact extension, but will be given first choice in working summer contract extension for said program. The teacher will notify the superintendent by March 1 whether they would like to work the extended program or not. If the teacher does not notify the superintendent by March 1, it will be assumed that the teacher is working the extended program in the summer. If the teacher chooses to not work the extended summer program and a highly qualified teacher cannot be secured by May 1, the teacher will be assigned to teach the extended summer program. Mentor’s will be selected based on expertise and experience in areas determined to be focus/goal areas of the mentee.
