Initial Verbal Warning. Where an employee’s work performance or conduct is considered unsatisfactory, the employee shall be informed in the first instance verbally, by the employee’s immediate supervisor or other appropriate officer of Council. They shall be counselled on the nature of the unsatisfactory performance or conduct and of the required standard to be achieved. Unsatisfactory work performance or conduct shall include, but not be limited to, neglect of duties, breach of discipline, absenteeism and non-compliance with safety standards. A written record shall be kept on the employeesstaff file of the initial warning. The employee shall be entitled to sight and sign the written record and add any notations regarding the contents of such record. Should an employee’s work performance improve satisfactorily within twelve (12) months, then the employee will be notified in writing that the offence will no longer be taken into consideration.

  • Volunteer Firefighting Leave Leave without pay will be granted when an employee who is a volunteer firefighter is called to duty to respond to a fire, natural disaster or medical emergency.
