Laboratory Technicians. ARTICLE NUMBER
Laboratory Technicians. Laboratory Technicians are responsible for assisting the Laboratory Manager in preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, recording test results, performing a variety of clerical duties, restocking supplies and performing other support functions. Additional responsibilities include: • Maintain glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing and storing • Maintain equipment records, daily logs, research protocols and results • Keep lab supplies stocked and notify the Laboratory Manager of any restocking needs • Assist in testing activities
Laboratory Technicians. 22.1 The Union agrees to work with health services which wish to employ technicians to perform non-scientific work subject to the provisions of this clause.
22.2 For the purposes of this clause, a technician means a person who holds a Diploma or equivalent in laboratory science of at least two years full-time study or an equivalent period of part-time study in a post-secondary institution.
Laboratory Technicians. Department will consist of the Quality Assurance Lab, Factory Services and, Environmental Department.
Laboratory Technicians. The current laboratory personnel are listed on Schedule 6.2(g). Prior to Closing, Buyer and Seller shall work together to determine in good faith those laboratory technicians that will be transferred with the Business to Buyer and those laboratory technicians that will remain with Seller and will not be transferred. Such division will permit Buyer to take the laboratory manager, all test engineers and up to nine laboratory technicians, and will permit Seller to retain the remaining laboratory technicians (it being understood that the test engineers for the Business are already included in the definition of Business Employees). The laboratory technicians that are allocated to Buyer shall be considered Business Employees. The laboratory technicians who are allocated to Seller shall not be considered Business Employees.

Laboratory Technicians. Level 1 are supported, inducted and trained and new science teachers are inducted in safe use of chemicals and equipment, if required. The following selection criteria are identified as being required to achieve the outcomes in the context of this position. Applicants will need to provide evidence of their capacity to transfer their knowledge and skills to achieving the outcomes of this position.
1. Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
3. Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
5. Demonstrated well developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.

Probation/training level. 44716 5 Progression to this level after 1824 hours at Level 6 provided the employee demonstrates the technical proficiency to perform routine analyses in a timely and competent manner with minimal supervision. Works effectively, efficiently and cooperatively with other members of laboratory team. May be approached by more senior staff to provide ideas and input when problem solving. May be used as entry level for candidates with relevant external experience. 46059 4 Progression to this level after 1824 hours at Level 5 provided the employee demonstrates proficiency in more technically demanding analyses. Contributes to efficiency of laboratory by suggesting improvements to procedures. Demonstrates ability to undertake some specialised projects with advice/supervision. May undertake writing of procedures with supervision if required. Contributes to maintenance of work standards and environment by volunteering in areas such as Workplace Health and Safety, Quality Control, continuing education etc. May be approached by more senior staff to provide ideas and input when problem solving. May be used as entry level for candidates with relevant external experience. 47437
