Material Tests. The contractor shall provide test prices as required by the engineer to enable him to determine the quality of the material supplied free of charge and any cost of the tests shall be borne by the contractor. If any test pieces fails to comply with the requirements of the appropriate specifications for the material in question, the engineer may reject the whole of the material represented by that piece, the contractor’s designers and metallurgists will be consulted before any material is so rejected. In the event of the engineer being furnished with the certified particulars of the tests which have been carried out for the contractor by the suppliers of the material, he may, at his own discretion, dispense with the previously mentioned tests entirely.

Material Tests. Material tests shall conform to the requirements of Clause S4.01 (1) (a).
Material Tests. (i) Material tests on all important stressed components as defined in Clause S1.17(2). (ii) Radiographic examination or ultrasonic examination of all major castings and forgings. The areas proposed for such examination shall be nominated by the Contractor when drawings of the components concerned in accordance with Clause 4.06 of Volume 1 and shall be subject to the approval of the DEDE Engineer. The decision as to whether further examination is required shall be determined on the incidence of defective materials disclosed by the initial examination. The acceptability of the material shall be judged in accordance with American Society for Testing Materials, cracks and hot tears being ‘unacceptable’, severity level 2 for all other forms of defect being ‘borderline’, as defined in those Standards. Any areas found by these examinations to contain unacceptable defects shall be subject to re- examination after repair. (iii) Radiographic, ultrasonic examination and crack detection of welded components in accordance with Clause S1.17 (iv) Crack detection of all castings and forgings.

Salvaging of material due to unacceptable defect is to be attempted by the Contractor only after getting specific concurrence from the Owner and according to the approved procedures. 16.2.8 Unless otherwise specified, NDT tests shall be witnessed by the Owner.
Material Tests. Include with the list of material sources three copies of gradation analysis and a moisture density relation analysis for granular backfill materials.

Material Tests. 1.26.1 In the event of The Employer or his representative being supplied with the particulars of tests which have been carried out for The Contractor by the suppliers of material, he may, at his own discretion, accept the same as proper evidence of compliance with the requirements of appropriate specifications for the materials. 1.26.2 In case the correlating test certificates are not available, The Contractor, at no extra cost to The Employer will get all the tests done to establish conformity of the material to its relevant code or specification.
