The Military Selective Service Act provides that Reservists and National Guardsmen be permitted time off from their employment to perform (1) short-term active training duty and/or (2) to participate in weekly drills, weekend drills, or summer training. A. To Participate in Active Training Duty (usually 4 to 6 months) 1. Before leaving his/her assignment the Employee must: a) Request a Leave of Absence b) Present a copy of his/her military orders to the Human Resources Division or its designee.
