This area deals with people who require ongoing assessment, treatment and placement following an acute episode (mental health) or because of the development of a long-term condition (dementia). This role will also provide support to community and outpatient settings as required by line manager or delegated allied health professional. ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Education and Qualifications (or equivalent level of learning) • High level of interpersonal and communication skills • Year 11-NCEA Level 1 English (or equivalent) • Year 11-NCEA Level 1 Maths (or equivalent) • NZQA Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)* Allied Health Assistants (with exception of dental assistants): • NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand Dental assistants: • NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Dental Assistance *If not previously obtained; to be completed within 2 years of commencement or to be commenced within 1 year of employment. Experience • Ability to learn new skills and competencies • Experience working in health/disability settings or with the general public public. • Previous involvement in Clinical Task Indicator sign off (Calderdale). Knowledge and Skills • Promote safety and independence under the direction of qualified allied health professionals, including the development and maintenance of functional skills with activities of daily living. • Provide assistance with any or all of tasks and home visits under the direction of a qualified allied health professional. • Supervise and assist children/families with rehabilitation programmes using appropriate techniques as designed by qualified allied health professionals. • Organise collection and delivery of equipment, mobility aids and assistive devices, and performing the appropriate administrative, cleaning (according to local infection control guidelines) and storing processes. • Participate in the smooth running of the Child Development Service, including monitoring and cleaning equipment according the relevant schedules and maintaining other supplies as directed. • Complete general administration duties as required by delegated allied health professionals e.g. data entry and other record keeping duties. • Perform other duties relevant to the position as required • Be computer literate with a broad based understanding of computer skills • Must possess a full and current NZ Driver’s licence • Have a base knowledge of first-aid and willingness to participate in annual CPR training and pool safety training.
