Common use of Non-Equity Choreographers Clause in Contracts

Non-Equity Choreographers. ‌ If the Engager engages a non-Equity Choreographer, one (1) of the following clauses shall apply: (i) Should a Choreographer already be a member of another performing artists’ association (i.e. AEA, UDA, ACTRA), she/he shall be subject to the provisions of the appropriate reciprocal Agreement between Equity and said Association. (ii) A person who is not already a member of Equity and is not a member of another performing artists’ association may be offered a NBCA engagement contract. If the Artist chooses to sign the NBCA engagement contract, she/he shall join Equity. (iii) A person who is not already a member of Equity and is not a member of another performing artists’ association shall not be required to join during the tenure of this Agreement. The Engager shall be required to send to Equity a letter to the effect that the fee agreed upon is no less favourable than those set out in Article 9:00.
