Observing Rules a) Be a conscientious and thoughtful astronomer when utilizing the facilities at SNR.
b) Dark-out rules always apply after twilight. No bright lights anywhere, dusk to xxxx. Bright lights include computer screens, video cameras, and basically any light that would interfere with your neighbor's dark adaption. Laptop and video screens must have dark red xxxxxxx. Please use red lights in tents and RVs.
c) Quiet time is in the mornings until noon. This includes pets. Please be considerate of those who stay up observing till xxxx!
d) No loud noise. If you play music or a radio, set the volume so that no one can hear it but you. Everyone will thank you.
e) Arrive and set up at the site before the end of twilight.
f) Always use extreme caution while driving on the site. The internal speed limit for SNR is 10 MPH. Driving is permitted on marked paths and in Premier Member designated areas only. SNR is surrounded by deep canals; proceed accordingly and at your own risk. Use extreme caution during wet season to avoid damaging the grounds and to avoid getting stuck.
g) If you plan to leave the site before xxxx, park your car on the other side of the hammock near the main road headed off the SNR property. Use parking lights until reaching the SNR gate.
h) Please make sure your site is kept clean and all trash taken with you. Your site should be as clean as you found it.
i) If you know you are going to be staying for several days, make sure you have adequate food and drink. The town is about 25 miles away so prepare accordingly.
j) Be aware that wild and domestic farm animals frequent the area, and canals are the home to alligators and snakes, use caution.
k) If you are the last member to leave SNR you must ensure that all lights, water, etc. are turned off in the common use areas, and you are required to lock all gates.
l) Pets are permitted in a Premier Member’s personal areas only and must be leashed or penned. Loud pets are prohibited.
m) Refer to the attached map (addendum A) for the boundaries of the SNR designated area for astronomy. Please restrict your activities within those boundaries except for ingress/egress.
