Common use of OPGW Guard Wire Clause in Contracts

OPGW Guard Wire. The OPGW wire will be made up of optical fibers for telecommunication, contained in a central optical fiber protection unit surrounded by one or several layers of concentrically stranded metal wires. The optical unit shall be designed to contain and protect the optical fibers from potential damages caused by mechanical stresses resulting from traction, bending, twisting, compression or humidity. The wire configuration shall be loose and longitudinally sealed to prevent the entry of water. The wire shall have the electrical and mechanical characteristics required for the design of transmission lines and ensure that the optical fibers are not stressed throughout the service life of the wire. The OPGW guard wire shall be capable of withstanding an estimated short-circuit to earth to ensure a service life not less than 30 years. The CONCESSIONAIRE shall support the calculation methodology. The CONCESSIONAIRE shall be responsible for determining the final technical characteristics and specifications of the OPGW wire, based on standards such as IEEE 1138, ITU-T G.652, or equivalent, to guarantee selection based on the quality levels required for the SEIN.
