PAYMENT OF AN AMOUNT OF THE LIMIT OF LIABILITY. Prior to or in the course of the conduct of proceedings or compromise negotiations in connection with any claim or series of claims, the Insurer is entitled to pay the amount of the relevant limit or limits of liability, after deducting any amount or amounts already paid as compensation, in which case the Insurer shall relinquish the conduct and control of such claim or claims and will be free from any further liability thereof.
