Percent Interstate Usage (PIU) Sample Clauses
The Percent Interstate Usage (PIU) clause defines how the proportion of telecommunications traffic that crosses state lines is determined and reported. Typically, this clause requires the customer or carrier to periodically provide data or estimates indicating what percentage of their total traffic is interstate versus intrastate. For example, a business using a telecom service may need to submit quarterly reports showing the breakdown of their call traffic. The core function of this clause is to ensure accurate billing and regulatory compliance, as different rates and rules may apply to interstate and intrastate communications.
