Preferential Hire. Preferential hire, pursuant to the provisions found in this Agreement, shall be given to residents of the area in which the work is being performed, if they are qualified to perform the work requested by the employer.

Preferential Hire. In the event a plant of the Company in which there is a bargaining unit covered by the CAW Security is closed, the Company will give consideration to laid off employees for permanent work opportunity in other plants and offices of the Company. Further, that should the employee accepts an offer to work, the employee shall be given date of entry seniority.
Preferential Hire. A. An employee (i) who has been on a scheduled layoff (as defined below) from one of the bargaining units covered by this Agreement for a continuous period of at least six months, and (ii) who possessed two or more years of seniority and/or group seniority (if applicable) in such bargaining unit at the beginning of such layoff under (i) above may file an application for employment in any other bargaining unit covered by this Agreement and will (subject to the succeeding provisions of this Section 12.15) be granted a preferential hiring right to a job opening in such other bargaining unit provided such employee possesses the necessary qualifications for employment in such other bargaining unit and further provided that another applicant for employment in such other bargaining unit does not possess measurably better qualifications for a specific job opening than such laid-off employee. B. An application for employment submitted by any such laid-off employee must be filed, electronically, with the Company through its standard hiring procedures and with Corporate Labor Relations specifying the position for which the laid-off employee is seeking employment. Employees may exercise the preferential hiring rights under this Section 12.15 for up to two years from the date of their layoff. Preferential Hire. A. An employee on regular layoff with recall rights from a tire plant covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the USW and Titan will be given preference in hiring at another tire plant covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the USW and Titan where all eligible laid-off employees have been recalled and new employees are being hired for work on which the laid-off employee has qualifying experience. A laid- off employee desiring to exercise his preferential hiring rights under the conditions of this paragraph shall make written application for employment at other plants covered by x collective bargaining agreement between the USW and Titan during the period of time he continues to accumulate service for recall purposes at the plant from which he was laid off with recall rights. B. Any laid-off employee who is hired will be hired as a new employee without service credit for seniority purposes. For all other purposes, he will be credited with the amount of continuous service he had at the time of his layoff and, in addition, will receive credit for the amount of service credit for which he would have been eligible for as if he were being recalled from layoff. C. All such laid-off employees shall be required to satisfactorily complete a new hire physical examination prior to hire. D. Should a laid-off employee who has applied for preferential hire refuse a job for which he is qualified, preferential hiring rights will be terminated. E. An employee who has retained recall rights to the former plant will be eligible for recall at any time if the recall list has been exhausted and a job is to be filled with a new hire at such former plant. In the application of Section 9.1(B) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, an employee who accepts recall to his former plant will have neither his former plant seniority date nor his pension service date adversely affected in relation to other employees at that plant as the result of the application of the first paragraph of this Section 9.7(E). An employee exercising preferential hiring rights who is eligible for recall, may answer or refuse recall to his former plant. If recall is refused, the employee will be bypassed until he notifies the former plant to the contrary. Preferential Hire. The Employer agrees to give preference to applicants who are indefinitely laid off CAW Local 444 members when hiring new employees on condition that the candidate possesses the skill, ability, and qualifications to perform the required work and successfully complete the employer hiring protocol. Second preference will be given to other CAW applicants on these same conditions.
