Common use of Preservation of Monuments and Stakes Clause in Contracts

Preservation of Monuments and Stakes. The Contractor shall carefully preserve all monuments, benchmarks, property markers, reference points, and stakes. In case of his destruction thereof, the Contractor will be charged with the expense of replacement and shall be responsible for any mistake or loss of time that may be caused. Permanent monuments or benchmarks which must be removed or disturbed shall be protected until properly referenced for relocation. The Contractor shall furnish materials and assistance for the proper replacement of such monuments or benchmarks.
