Progression up the Structure. A skills based career structure will be the basis for skills development which will provide for payment of skills used and for regrading when positions are available. Employees will progress through the career structure by acquiring additional skills in accordance with SCHEDULE "B" of this agreement. The acquisition of additional skills will be dependent on the needs of the Company and the identified skill deficiencies of individual employees. The Company will endeavor to ensure that all employees are given an opportunity to undertake work to the level of their skills. However from time to time, due to the Company’s work commitments it may be necessary to offer employees positions at lower skill levels, than that they have attained. Skills are deemed to have been acquired once consistent competency has been demonstrated to the required standard of the Company. Consistent competency with a skill must be maintained by the employee in order to be recognised for that skill. Skills assessment will be undertaken within the first six (6) months of certification of the agreement and every six (6) months thereafter.

Employees will progress through the career structure by acquiring additional skills in accordance with SCHEDULE “B” of this agreement. The acquisition of additional skills will be dependent on the needs of the Company and the identified skill deficiencies of individual employees. Skills are deemed to have been acquired once consistent competency has been demonstrated to the required standard of the Company. Consistent and continued competency with a skill must be maintained by the employee in order to be recognised for that skill. Skills assessment and reassessments will be undertaken within six (6) months of certification of the agreement and every twelve (12) months thereafter. Individual employees who are assessed within one skill of an upgrade may at the discretion of the Company be re-assessed on an individual case by case basis.
