Common use of Proof of Life or Death Clause in Contracts

Proof of Life or Death. Before we make a payment, we have the right to require proof of the life or death of any person on whose life or death determines whether, to whom, or how much we must pay any benefits under this Contract. Withholding Taxes β€” We reserve the right to withhold from all payments made or deemed made under this Contract, any taxes required to be withheld by applicable federal or state law, unless the Owner or payee elects otherwise pursuant to applicable withholding rules. Non-Participating β€” This Contract is classified as a non-participating contract. It does not participate in our profits or surplus, and therefore no dividends are payable.
