Common use of Protect Property Clause in Contracts

Protect Property. You must take all reasonable steps to protect covered property at and after a covered loss to avoid further damage. We pay for repairs which are reasonable and necessary to protect the property from further damage, provided you keep an accurate record of such expenses. These payments do not increase the amount of insurance otherwise applicable to the loss.

However, provided you keep an accurate record of such expenses. These payments we do not pay for such repairs or emergency measures performed on property which has not been damaged by a covered peril. This does not increase the amount of insurance otherwise applicable to the lossour limit.
