Protective Cases. Kinder-5th Grade: Cases will be provided by the school. 6th Grade and 7th Grade: Students will be provided with a protective Chromebook case that is not to be removed from the Chromebook. 8th Grade: Students may provide their own protective case or may ask for a previously used case from the school. A screen protector is also recommended with the following specifications: ● All four corners are completely covered. This means that you absolutely cannot touch any corner or the glass near the corner. ● There is a “lip” around the edge of the screen that prevents the screen from touching the ground when placed face down. Speck brand cases and most cases with built-in keyboards do not meet this requirement. ● The case is at least partly made of a shock-absorbent material, not hard plastic. ● Keyboards are recommended for students who need them to achieve the required typing speed, but keyboards are not required. The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure. • Do not put pressure on the top of a Chromebook when it is closed. • Do not store a Chromebook with the screen open. • Do not place anything in the protective case that will press against the cover. • Make sure there is nothing on the keyboard before closing the lid (e.g. pens, pencils, jewelry, etc.). • Only clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or antistatic cloth.
