Purpose of privileges and immunities. 1) The privileges and immunities provided for in this Agreement are not designed to give personal advantages to the persons to whom they are accorded. They are granted solely to ensure that the Centre is able to perform its official activities unimpeded at all times and that the persons to whom they are accorded have complete independence. The Centre engages to encourage its staff members to comply with their legal obligations. 2) The Centre shall waive immunity where it considers that such immunity would impede the normal course of justice and that it can be waived without prejudicing the interests of the Centre.
