Purpose of Tenure. The purpose of tenure is two-fold: 1) To protect tenured academic employee appointment rights and tenured academic employee involvement in the establishment and protection of those rights at the College and all subsequent community Colleges hereafter established within Community College District No. 22; and 2) To assure that tenure is granted to tenure candidate(s) of such character and scholarly ability that the College, so far as its resources permit, can justifiably undertake to employ them for the rest of their academic careers.
