Rangers Working Hours a) The parties agree, for operational purposes, Rangers shall be engaged to work Annualised Ordinary Hours (AOH) in accordance with this Schedule.
b) AOH means the number of ordinary hours each Ranger must work each year, starting from 1 July and finishing 30 June in the following year. The AOH for each Ranger is calculated by multiplying the number of ordinary hours an Employee must work every week (37 hours) by 52, giving a total of 1924 hours.
c) AOH for Rangers shall not exceed 1924 hours as either worked time or paid leave during the 12 month settlement period.
d) Rangers may be rostered to work on any morning, afternoon or night shift, any day of the week, Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
e) Hours are to be worked in not more than ten shifts per fortnight and not more than eight hours in any one shift. 12 hour shifts may be worked by agreement between the Employer and Employee as required for leave coverage.
f) Subject to clause 2 (k), hours increased in accordance with clause 2 (e) will not incur overtime penalties.
g) Meal breaks
i) A paid meal break period of 30 minutes, shall be allowed on each day worked.
ii) A meal break will be taken no more than five hours after the commencement of a shift.
iii) Where a Ranger is subsequently directed to take a meal break after five hours, the Ranger shall instead be paid at the rate of double time for the period elapsed between five hours and the time the break is taken.
iv) An employee who works a 12 hour shift in accordance with clause 2 (e) shall be entitled to a second 30 minute paid meal break.
h) The ordinary hours of duty shall be set out in an electronic roster where it can be readily seen by the Ranger Employees concerned, setting out the time each Ranger Employee starts and finishes each day, together with the consecutive days off duty.
i) The roster may be altered on account of contingencies which the Employer could not reasonably foresee. Such altered times shall then become the new roster. Wherever possible, the Employer will give as much notice as possible when roster changes are necessary or Employees are nominated to take days off, with the minimum notice required to be two weeks where practicable. Where minimum notice is not given, a change of roster will be by agreement between the Employer and the Employee.
