The "Recycled plastic content" clause sets requirements for the amount or percentage of recycled plastic material that must be included in a product or packaging. Recycled plastic content. For all new product models first placed on the EU market after 1 January 2014, Signatories shall make information available to customers on the minimum percentage8 of postconsumer recycled plastic content, calculated as a percentage of total plastic (by weight) in each product. The following may be excluded from the calculation of the percentage: printed circuit boards, labels, cables, connectors, electronic components, optical components, electrostatic discharge (ESD) components, electromagnetic interference (EMI) components, and biobased plastic material. Products that do not contain plastics can declare “Not applicable” for this criterion.
