Reduced Leave Schedule Clause Samples

A Reduced Leave Schedule clause allows an employee to decrease their usual number of working hours or days, rather than taking a continuous block of leave. This arrangement might involve an employee working part-time or spreading their leave over a longer period, such as working half-days instead of taking full days off. The core function of this clause is to provide flexibility for employees who need time off for qualifying reasons, while enabling them to maintain some level of work activity and income, and helping employers manage workflow disruptions.

Reduced Leave Schedule. (1) Reduced leave schedule means family leave scheduled for fewer than the employee's usual number of hours worked per workweek but not fewer than an employee's usual number of hours worked per workday, unless agreed to by the employee and Employer. (2) If family leave is for a serious health condition of a family member, family leave may be taken on a reduced leave schedule for a period not exceeding 24 consecutive weeks. (3) If family leave is for the birth or adoption of a healthy child, family leave may be only taken on a reduced leave schedule if the employee and Employer agree to this, and in any event, it cannot exceed 24 consecutive weeks. (4) The employee shall make a reasonable effort to schedule reduced leave so as not to unduly disrupt the operations of the Employer, and the employee shall provide the Employer with prior notice of the care, medical treatment, or continuing supervision by a health care provider necessary due to a serious health condition of a family member, in a manner that is reasonable and practicable.
