REDUCTION IN FORCE A. Authority and Discretion. 1. The Board shall exercise its discretionary authority in good faith when deter- mining that a reduction in force (RIF) is necessary. Should it become necessary, a fair and equitable system for determination shall be followed. Conditions justify- ing a Reduction In Force include but are not limited to those indicated below. 2. The Bernalillo Public School District has the authority to discharge or terminate licensed personnel, including licensed instructors with three or more consecutive years of service. The Board has the jurisdiction to revise the instructional program and decrease personnel in the district at any time during the school year. 3. The District will provide the Association with thirty (30) days notice of an im- pending layoff. If requested by the Association during this thirty (30) day period, the District will meet with the Association and allow the Association to make rec- ommendations regarding the impending layoff. 4.
