Common use of Reduction of Contingency Clause in Contracts

Reduction of Contingency. When 100% of the contracts with subcontractors and suppliers have been executed, the contingency within the GMP may be decreased in proportion to the percent of the work completed. In other words, if 10% of the work has been completed and the Owner requests that the contingency within the GMP be adjusted, then 10% of the contingency within the GMP will be removed from the GMP by change order. At such time that the contingency equals 10% of its original sum, no further deductions will occur until the project is 100% complete and accepted.
