References to Defined Terms Clause Samples
The "References to Defined Terms" clause establishes that certain words or phrases within the agreement have specific, pre-defined meanings. In practice, this clause ensures that whenever a defined term appears—often capitalized or otherwise distinguished—it refers back to its formal definition provided elsewhere in the document. This approach prevents ambiguity and misinterpretation by making sure all parties understand exactly what each key term means, thereby promoting clarity and consistency throughout the contract.
