Regionally Significant Projects and Changes. The MPO (or MDOT, for nonattainment and maintenance areas not included in an MPO) is the lead agency to identify regionally significant projects and significant changes to project design concept or scope in proposed projects for the LRTP and/or TIP. Through the consultation process, the MITC-IAWG will make a determination of which minor arterials and other transportation projects should be considered “regionally significant” projects, and which projects may have undergone a significant change in design concept or scope since the previous TIP or LRTP was approved.
