The Latin America Equity Fund has elected and qualified for the special tax treatment afforded regulated investment companies ("RICs") under Sections 851-855 of the Code at all times since its inception. The Latin America Equity Fund is qualified as a foreign corporation in every jurisdiction where required, except to the extent that failure to so qualify would not have a material adverse effect on the Latin America Equity Fund.
