RELATIONS WITH GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES. In addition to the other Standards of Conduct set forth in this Policy Statement, no employee of Symantec will directly or indirectly offer to provide any gift, gratuity or entertainment to any employee or representative of any government authority, regardless of amount, in violation of Standards of Conduct put forth by such authority. Employees will illustrate fair, reasonable and honest conduct in dealing with foreign governments. Symantec employees will not directly or indirectly offer or provide any gift or gratuity to any employee or representative of any foreign government. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Symantec recognizes that in certain foreign countries, some minor government officials will delay or fail to perform their normal functions or services unless payments are made to them. In those situations where it is necessary to expedite a routine government action which the Corporation is otherwise entitled to have performed, payment may be made provided they: (1) Are not made to policy-making government personnel. (2) Are consistent with local custom and standards. (3) Receive prior approval, in writing, from the Chief Financial Officer.
