Research License Term Clause Samples

A Research License Term defines the conditions under which a party is granted permission to use certain intellectual property or materials strictly for research purposes. Typically, this clause restricts the licensee from using the licensed materials for commercial activities, product development, or distribution, and may require that any results or inventions arising from the research be disclosed to the licensor. Its core function is to enable academic or experimental use while protecting the licensor’s commercial interests and ensuring that the licensed materials are not exploited beyond the agreed research scope.
