Common use of Section 5.1 Clause in Contracts

Section 5.1. 33 It is agreed and understood that matters appropriate for consultation and negotiation between the District and 34 the Association are policies, programs, and procedures relating to or affecting hours, wages, grievance 35 procedures and general working conditions of employees in the bargaining unit subject to this Agreement. 39 A R T I C L E V I 40 41 ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATION 42 43 Section 6.1. 44 The Association representatives shall represent the Association and employees in meeting with officials of 45 the District to discuss appropriate matters of mutual interest. They may receive and investigate to conclusion 46 complaints or grievances of employees on District time and thereafter advise employees of rights and 47 procedures outlined in this Agreement and applicable regulations or directives for resolving the grievances or 48 complaints. They may not, however, continue to advise the employee on courses of action after the 49 employee has indicated that he or she does not desire to pursue a grievance. The Chapter will only be able to 1 continue the grievance after a majority vote of the Executive Board and notification to the District. They may 2 consult with the District on complaints without a grievance being made by an individual employee.
