Section Intent and Purpose. The intent and purpose of this Agreement shall be to promote and improve industrial and economic relations in the Industry, to establish and maintain discipline and efficiency and to set forth herein the basic Agreement covering rates of pay, hours of work and conditions of employment which will render justice to all. The parties hereto desire to co-operate in establishing and maintaining proper and suitable conditions in the Industry, to provide methods of fair and peaceful adjustments of all disputes which may arise between the parties, and to ▇▇▇▇▇▇ goodwill and friendly relations and better understanding between the parties.
Section Intent and Purpose. The general purpose of this Agreement is to establish mutually satisfactory relations between the Company and its employees and to provide machinery for the prompt and equitable disposition of grievances, and to establish and maintain satisfactory working conditions, hours of work and wages for all employees who are subject to the provisions of this Agreement.

It is the intent and purpose of the Parties hereto to set herein the Basic Agreement covering wages, hours of work, and conditions of employmentto be observed and to provide a procedurefor the prompt and equitable adjustment of alleged grievances,to the end that there shall be no interruption or impeding of work, work stoppages, strikes or other interferencewith production during the life of this Agreement. This collective agreement is also intendedto promote harmonious and orderly relations betweenthe Company, the Union and employees. The Agreement for an Insurance Program, the Agreement for a Pension Plan, and the Supplementary Unemployment Benefit Plan have been executed as separate agreements which shall continue in effect during the term of the Basic Agreement subject to their specific terms and conditions. The Company and the Union recognize the necessity of improving efficiency and productivity to enhance the competitive status of the facilities. The Company agrees to make the reasonable and necessary capital expenditure. The Union agrees to contributeto the competitiveness of the facilities and work with the Company to enhance the competitive status of the facilities. The Company and the Union have agreed to review and implement changes in work organization that will enhance the efficiency and the productivityof the existing workforce. The Company and the Union will work together to limit and possibly avoid the number of employees laid off.
