Common use of Selection from within the College Clause in Contracts

Selection from within the College. a. Nominations for Faculty Members across the College are submitted to the Human Resources Office. This may include nominations that occurred in Phase 1. b. Each nominee will verify a willingness to serve and fill out an application form. c. Any nominee that is unwilling to serve will be removed from the list of candidates. d. A list of willing candidates is posted by an established date. And then a second call for candidates is made. e. New nominations must be submitted, verified, and have a completed application form by the established date. f. A total list of candidates is then posted, along with their application forms. Following the posting of candidates, a division forum with the candidates will be held. Within five (5) business days of the last forum ballots shall be distributed to the divisional faculty in such a way that voting can be conducted confidentially. The voting process shall be verified by the faculty union. g. Voting is by “approval voting.” Each faculty member indicates whether they approve or disapprove each candidate. h. All candidates with more than 50% approval results will be submitted to the Vice President for Instruction. Selection will occur per Article IV, Section G(2). i. If only one candidate gets over 50% approval of the ballots cast, then a second vote is held per step “f” above, by an established date. At this point, a division chair who has already served two-consecutive terms may also submit an application and be placed on the slate for this second vote. j. If the second vote fails to yield at least two candidates, and the Vice President for Instruction wants more options, phase three will begin.
