Shift, Work Day, and Work Week a) Bargaining unit employees shall work four (4) - ten (10) hour days with three (3) days off, subject to call-out and extra duty assignments, as per past practice; (Crime prevention officers shall work with fixed days off to be determined.) On such occasions, the employee will not be entitled to receive any additional compensation based solely upon his or her failure to receive two (2) consecutive days off. The employee will be entitled to additional compensation only if the lack of two (2) consecutive days off results in the employee actually working more than forty (40) hours in any affected work week.

d) Except in cases of employees hired, regularly-scheduled or who volunteer to work weekends (defined as Saturday and Sunday), the Employer, through rotating shifts or other scheduling devices tending to preclude any employee from having to work more than two (2) consecutive weekends, will formulate work schedules in which no employee will be required to work more than two (2) out of three (3) consecutive weekends unless there are unforeseen circumstances.
e) The Parties agree that all personnel, except Messengers, covered in this Agreement have an eight (8) hour workday and forty (40) hour work week. Messengers have a seven and one-half (7½) hour work day and thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hour work week. They should be permitted at least a thirty (30) minute uncompensated lunch break not included in the seven and one-half (7½) hours of work per day. Notwithstanding the language of Section 1(c) of this Article X, employees shall be scheduled to work five (5) consecutive days, which may overlap the two (2) calendar weeks and have two (2) consecutive days off, unless mutually agreed otherwise.

(e) Notwithstanding the language of Section 1(c) of this ARTICLE VII, Building Service employees working in the Hospital shall be scheduled to work five (5) consecutive days which may overlap the two (2) calendar weeks and have two (2) consecutive days off.

Shift, Work Day, and Work Week a) The shift for Broadcasting Engineers shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours of work with a paid meal period not to exceed thirty (30) minutes. An employee shall be permitted to leave his/her assigned work area when possible, however, if assigned duties are of a continuous nature, the employee shall remain at the work area and eat while performing his/her assigned duties. The shift for Communication Technician and Instructional Media System Technician shall consist of seven and one-half (7.5) hours of work broken by an unpaid meal period not to exceed one (1) hour.
b) The workday is a fixed and regularly recurring period of twenty-four (24) consecutive hours and begins at 12:01 a.m. each calendar day.
c) The work week shall be from 12:01 a.m. on Sunday through 12:00 p.m. midnight on the following Saturday. The weekly work schedule shall consist of one (1) eight (8) hour or one
(1) seven and one-half hour work shift in each five (5) work days, with two (2) days off which shall be consecutive except when mutually agreed otherwise by the Employee and the Employer. For the purpose of clarifying this paragraph, Saturday and Sunday shall be regarded as consecutive even though they fall in separate work weeks. Management will attempt to diminish the variability of starting times.

d) Tardiness is defined as punching in after the scheduled start of an assigned work shift. Tardiness will be penalized by a deduction of time from the employee’s standard work shift as follows: Minutes Late Time Deducted 7 to 12 minutes .2 of an hour 13 to 18 minutes .3 of an hour 19 to 24 minutes .4 of an hour Etc. Etc. Occasional tardiness due to factors beyond the employee’s control and for reasons which are acceptable to his/her supervisor will be considered an excused absence without pay for personal convenience. In such a case, the employee may elect to charge Vacation/Personal Leave so as not to suffer a reduction in pay. Frequent tardiness (i.e. more than five (5) within a three (3) consecutive month period including any for which personal leave time has been approved) will be subject to disciplinary action.

Dental Assistants and Fixed, Removable Prosthodontic Technicians and Instrument Makers work week consists of one (1) seven and one-half (7 1/2) hour shift during each of five (5) consecutive days and shall not exceed thirty-seven and one-half (37 1/2) hours of work.
Shift, Work Day, and Work Week a) The shift shall consist of eight (8) hours of work, with an unpaid one-half (1/2) hour lunch period between the 3rd and 6th hour.

c) The workweek is a fixed and regularly recurring period of one hundred sixty-eight (168) hours (seven (7) consecutive periods of twenty-four (24) hours each) that begin at 12:01 a.m. each Sunday. The full-time work schedule in the workweek shall consist of one (1) shift of eight (8) hours during each of five (5) consecutive days and shall not exceed forty (40) hours of work.
d) Trash hauling will start on or about 3:00 a.m. or as required by management.
e) Dining Services Truck Drivers
1) Schedules currently in place for Truck Drivers assigned to Dining Services shall continue until such time as operational need necessitates either a permanent or temporary change. Dining Services will provide two weeks’ notice prior to a permanent change.
2) The Parties agree that no temporary schedule changes will be implemented in order to circumvent overtime.
3) Schedules for starting times shall be posted by the Thursday afternoon preceding the affected work week.
4) Dining Services may vary the starting time of a shift by a maximum of two hours on either side of the posted start time.
5) If Dining Services should need to upgrade an employee to the single “prevailing rate” position currently in place, the upgrade will be awarded to the most senior eligible employee.
