Software families Clause Samples
Software families. The notion of software families dates back to Parnas [126], who considers a set of programs as a family when “it is worthwhile to study programs from the set by first studying the common properties and then determining the special properties of the individual family members”. Pure business objectives however have been the main driver for industry to investigate the ideas and concepts behind software families in Europe [155]. A strong focus on the prod- ucts to be eventually delivered by an organization and the consequent limitation of a reuse infrastructure to exactly the properties and features needed coined the term product line engineering.
