Special Education Classes. Classes for students who have been identified as needing special education services will be limited to the maximum number allowed under applicable state standards. In accordance with state and federal guidelines, a continuum of service options will be provided to eligible students. Any Professional Staff Member who teaches the special education student shall be involved in the IEP process.
Special Education Classes. Any special education class that 11 is transferred to a new school site, the current teacher is automatically 12 transferred with that class. In the event a new special education class is 13 formed (different grade level(s) and/or classification, etc.) at the former 14 school site, the teacher who transferred with his/her class may apply for the 15 new position.

1. If any class contains certified special education students, a meeting may be called by the regular classroom teacher with the Administrator of Special Services and/or designee and the building administrator. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss additional support resources that are available for the classroom teacher and the manner in which the special education teacher and paraprofessional, if assigned, may be utilized.
2. Special Education Caseload and class size limits will be as per the Michigan Special Education Rules and Regulations in effect at the beginning of each semester. If the Rules and Regulations do not set a caseload or class size limit for a Special Education classification, the Association and District will meet to determine a limit. 3 When any certified special education student is placed into general education, the certified special education student's membership will be counted as one (1) member in determining that particular teacher's class size. The number of special education students will be equalized in like sections/grades by building and equalized with the teachers teaching in the like sections/grades by building. At the Elementary level the clustering of Special Education students in a general education classroom is allowed on a rotational basis with mutual agreement to waive the rotation. If not mutually agreed upon it will default to equitable distribution. A group of general education teachers at the same grade level and/or subject area and the affected special education teachers, together with the principal and Administrator of Special Services, may agree to place a group of certified special education students in the same general education classroom. The building team, including the affected general education teacher(s), will recommend appropriate adjustment to the class size in relation to the class composition. The principal will report the adjustment to the Superintendent’s office and the Association President. All decisions made will meet the State and Federal Special Education Rules and Regulations. Special Education Classes. When more than thirty-five percent (35%) of students on IEPs or 504 plans are assigned to any general class, the assigned teacher shall notify the principal. Thereafter, the teacher, administrator, and case manager shall meet and discuss how to meet the needs of the students in the class.
Special Education Classes. When Special Education students are enrolled in regular educational classes, the distribution shall be equitable recognizing the overall needs of individual classroom instructional programs and duties of the involved teachers. Furthermore, in accordance with state and federal regulations and requirements, regular education teachers shall attend IEP meetings.

Special Education Classes. 4-17.1. Special Education classes shall be grouped according to the Rhode Island Regulations Governing Students with Disabilities, as issued by the State Board of Regents.
4-17.2. Emotionally-disturbed students, who present severe disciplinary problems and impede the educational progress of the entire class, shall be given every priority in the referral testing program and every effort shall be made to have them properly placed upon the recommendations of the School Psychologist and Director of Special Services.
