Spousal equivalent Sample Clauses

The "spousal equivalent" clause defines and recognizes a person who, while not legally married to the other party, maintains a relationship functionally similar to that of a spouse. This clause typically applies to domestic partners or long-term cohabitants, granting them rights or responsibilities equivalent to those of a legal spouse under the agreement. By including this provision, the clause ensures that non-married partners are treated fairly and consistently, addressing potential gaps in legal recognition and preventing disputes over benefits, obligations, or entitlements that would otherwise be limited to married couples.
