a) APPRENTICESHIP STANDARDS - the following standards of apprenticeship covering the employment and training of apprentices in the trades included in these standards have been agreed to by the Company and the National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation and General Workers Union of Canada (CAW-Canada), and its Local Union 222.
b) PURPOSE - The purpose of these standards is to make certain that extreme care is exercised in the selection of applicants and that the methods of training are uniform and sound, with the result that they will be equipped for profitable employment, and to further the assurance to the Company of proficient employees at the conclusion of the training period.
Stationary Engineer. The formula for calculating increases for the key classification of Stationary Engineer is to be based upon a weighted average public component, which will include employer paid employee share of retirement, comprising sixty-two and one- half percent (62.5%) of the rate, and trade and crafts rates comprising thirty-seven and one-half percent (37.5%) of the rate. The weighted average public component comprising sixty-two and one-half percent (62.5%) of the rate is to be made up of thirty- one and one-quarter percent (31.25%) public Stationary Engineer data, fifteen and five- eights percent (15.625%) public Plumber data, and fifteen and five-eights percent (15.625%) public Electrician data. The trade and craft rate comprising thirty-seven and one-half percent (37.5%) of the Stationary Engineer rate is to be derived from eighteen and three-quarters (18.75%) Stationary Engineer, nine and three-eights percent (9.375%) Plumber, and nine and three-eighths percent (9.375%) Electrician straight-time journey rates as set forth in the trade and craft agreement covering Alameda County.

Stationary Engineer. Control Specialist; 6 in Internal Services; 1 in Health Services; 1 in the Sheriff’s Dept. This work force is to operate and perform normal maintenance at the facilities listed in paragraph C below. Not more than 3 of the Stationary Engineer II positions may be filled at the Stationary Engineer I level.
(2) The Department of Public Works will maintain the following number of funded positions for the duration of this Memorandum of Understanding: Item 7180 - Assistant Dam Operator - 11 positions Item 7183 - Dam Operator - 10 positions
B. The parties agree that should the County open, close, modify or convert any power plant facility or Flood Control Dam during the term of this agreement; they shall negotiate on appropriate staffing to modify paragraph A above. If agreement on staffing is not reached within a reasonable period of time, Management will establish the staffing pattern it considers appropriate, subject to the grievance procedure, ARTICLE 22, of this agreement.
C. Facilities in place and operating on the effective date of this agreement:
Stationary Engineer. Help maintain school facilities in a condition of operating excellence so full educational use may be made at all time.

Stationary Engineer. In addition to the customary duties of a Stationary Engineer, work that has traditionally been performed by Stationary Engineers at Hilroy, such as plumbing, pipefitting, occasional carpentry work, etc., shall be considered part of the duties of a Stationary Engineer.
