Common use of Street Grades Clause in Contracts

Street Grades. (1) The maximum street grades shall not exceed the following: a. Arterial streets and highways: 6%. b. Collector and local streets and alleys: 8%. c. Pedestrian ways: 10% unless steps of acceptable design are provided. (2) Where necessitated by exceptional topography and where approved by the Village Engineer, Plan Commission and Village Board, the above grades may be exceeded, but in no event shall the grade of any street exceed 12% or be less than 0.50%. (3) All changes in street grades shall provide sight distances as conditions require as determined by the Village Engineer. Sight distance calculations shall be done in accordance with the provisions of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Facilities Development Manual. (4) Street grades shall be established wherever practicable in such a manner to avoid excessive grading, the excessive removal of ground cover and tree growth and general leveling of the topography.
