STUDENT APPLICANT. There shall be a classification designated as Student Applicant. This classification shall be available for an individual who is at least 18 years of age, enrolled full time day classes in a post-secondary educational institution such as a college, university, junior college, trade school, etc. (exceptions to these limitations can be made on a case by case basis by the Union – i.e. (for those high school graduates waiting to enter military service), and who desires to work in the roofing industry during the summer break from school. This classification will be available to the Employer from May 1 through September 30 each calendar year. When the Union has 10% or more of its members unemployed as indicated by its “Out- of-Work Book”, the Union will be able to restrict or reject Student Applicants. There will be no recruiting of students by the Employer for summer work i.e. (posting of job opportunities at college campuses or trade schools).
