Common use of Suicide Exclusion Clause in Contracts

Suicide Exclusion. 9.2.1 Notwithstanding anything stated herein, if the Life Insured commits suicide, whether sane or insane, within 12 (Twelve) months from the Effective Date or the date of revival of this Policy, all risks and benefits under this Policy shall cease and no benefits are payable under this Policy. In such an event, We will only pay the following to a person as specified under Section 4.1: i. higher of the Special Surrender Value or total Premiums received (excluding rider premiums, if any), if the Policy has acquired a Surrender Value; or ii. the total Premiums received (excluding rider premiums, if any) by Us, if the Policy has not acquired a Surrender Value.
