Switchgear Compartment. The switchgear compartment is a walk–in weather–protected enclosure made of carbon steel with a steel frame around the perimeter designed to support the enclosure. The walls, doors, floor, and ceiling are made of steel panels which are bolted together. The exterior is painted beige with rust inhibited primer and the interior is painted ▇▇▇▇. The switchgear is convection or forced-air cooled. In addition, electric space heaters are provided for moisture control. The switchgear compartment is divided into two sections, a high voltage section containing the energized high voltage electrical conductors and a low voltage maintenance walk–in section as described below.
