Teaching and Research. Consistent with the exercise of academic responsibility, Faculty will have freedom to present and discuss their own academic subjects, frankly and forthrightly, without fear of censorship, and to select instructional materials and determine grades in accordance with University policies and Board regulations. Objective and skillful exposition of such subject matter, including the acknowledgment of a variety of scholarly opinions, is the duty of every Faculty Member. Faculty will also be free to engage in scholarly and creative activity and publish the results in a manner consistent with their professional obligations.

Teaching and Research. 1. An individual who is or was a resident of a Contracting State at the beginning of his visit to the other Contracting State and who, at the invitation of the Government of that other Contracting State or of a university or other educational institution situated in that other Contracting State and approved by the appropriate educational authority of that other Contracting State visits that other Contracting State for a period not exceeding two (2) years for the purpose of teaching or researching at such university or other educational institution shall be exempt from tax by that other Contracting State on his income from personal services for teaching or researching at such university or other educational institution for a period not exceeding two (2) years from the date of his arrival in that other Contracting State. 2. The exemption granted under paragraph 1 shall not apply to income from research if such research is undertaken not in the public interest but primarily for the private benefit of a specific person or specific persons.

The exemption granted under paragraph 1 shall not apply to income from research if such research is undertaken not in the public interest but primarily for the private benefit of a specific person or specific persons.

Teaching and Research. 10.1 The parties to this Agreement acknowledge the important role of Employees in providing training to junior medical staff and specialist trainees in the achievement and maintenance of a sufficient medical workforce. It is acknowledged that adequate levels of training for junior medical staff is necessary to the maintenance of acceptable standards of quality and safety. 10.2 The Employing Authority will require an Employee to engage in medical education/teaching as directed. The contract of employment shall identify the specific tasks to be undertaken and the proportion of time that the Employing Authority instructs the Employee to commit to those tasks. Such time shall come within the Employee’s specified hours of work. 10.3 DH acknowledges the valuable contribution of Employees to the public sector in undertaking research activities. The parties to this Agreement are therefore committed to encouraging 10.4 The parties will encourage a commitment of 15% of Employee hours worked, to be directed to the provision of teaching and training, and/or the conduct of research activities as agreed between the Employee and the Employing Authority.
