Teaching classroom, studio, laboratory, and distance delivery instruction in regular academic courses with assigned contact hours; development and coordination of special undergraduate and graduate seminars; preparation of student materials for classes; preparation of a new course or program or substantial revision of an older course or program; general advising of undergraduate students; supervision of student mentorships; supervision of graduate student theses, dissertations, and research/creative projects; supervision of undergraduate theses and research/creative projects; supervision of directed study through individualized courses and student projects; non-credit educational programs on-campus or elsewhere; and other activities benefiting students' academic development.
Teaching. Faculty have an obligation to make all reasonable efforts to develop and maintain their scholarly competence and effectiveness as teachers, and to perform teaching duties as specified under procedures outlined in this Collective Agreement. The Employer shall provide Faculty with the resources necessary to assist them in maintaining their competence and effectiveness as teachers.

In addition to fully meeting the criteria for “high merit,” the Member is recognized by students and faculty for her or his unusually strong contributions to student success. • Recognizing the Member as rigorous and challenging, students seek out her or his classes. • Former students often credit the Member for their academic and professional success. • Faculty colleagues recognize the Member’s unusually strong contributions to teaching. • The Member has received national recognition for her or his teaching. Faculty with intensive teaching (no course reduction for significant service): • Meets the requirements for significant service Faculty with standard teaching (a course release for significant service): • The quantity of documented service contributions clearly exceeds the requirements for significant service, and • The service includes significant leadership contributions resulting in substantial positive impact on the university, college, or department.
Teaching. (a) The parties acknowledge the important role of practitioners in providing training of doctors in training in the achievement and maintenance of a sufficient medical workforce. It is further acknowledged that adequate levels of training for doctors in training are necessary to the maintenance of acceptable standards of quality and safety.
(b) The employer may require a practitioner, excluding interns, to engage in medical education/teaching as directed.

Teaching. A requirement for tenure or for promotion to any rank is demonstrated competence and responsibility in teaching and a commitment to the facilitation of student learning including contributions to the development of curriculum and programs of study within a Member’s academic unit or sub-unit. Teaching performance which is superior to the necessary requirement counts additionally in the candidate's favour.
