Tool Replacement. Personal tools worn out and/or broken on the job will be replaced on a like- for-like basis by the Employer, provided the tool is turned in to the Employer and the Employer had knowledge the tool was being used on the job. If an employee has his/her tools stolen from a state vehicle, the Employer will replace those tools, as long as no employee negligence has occurred.

Tool Replacement. The Employer shall supply all tools and equipment required by the employees, other than tools normally supplied by mechanics, in the performance of their duties. Replacement in all cases will be made by producing the worn, burned or broken tool.

Tool Replacement. ‌ Hand tools and equipment, replaced under the subsection, are defined as all those hand tools and equipment originally purchased by an employee and used to do construction and repair work for Alameda Municipal Power. AMP is authorized to replace certain personal hand tools worn out in the course of employment. AMP will replace a unit, at AMP expense, only it if is worn out by the employee while doing work for AMP. No unit will be replaced unless the used, worn-out unit is turned in at the time replacement is requested. A supervisor must approve the replacement of any unit before the Storekeeper issues a new one. AMP shall determine which tools will be replaced for each job classification. If, in the judgment of an employee’s supervisor, a tool is broken through misuse or abuse, or is lost, it will not be replaced. When an employee needs one of these units which cannot be replaced at AMP expense under this subsection, AMP is authorized to sell it to said employee at stock card cost. Where the tool is purchased is optional with the employee. The following list of tools represents those which have been determined as necessary for the various job classifications. Tool Replacement. 6-11-1 The District shall replace employee-owned tools lost or stolen on District property or broken or worn-out during the workday up to the following amounts per employee per annum: Transportation Mechanics will receive $1,280.00, Facilities Maintenance will receive $250.00, and Small Engines will receive $800.00.
Tool Replacement. A tradesperson or apprentice required to supply their own hand tools shall have tools broken and worn through their employment replaced by the Employer with ones of equal quality, upon presentation of their broken or worn tools. The Employer shall provide theft and fire insurance on an employee’s tools when in the Employers’ premises and vehicles. If new equipment requires new or specialized hand tools such tools shall be provided by, with ownership retained by, the Employer.
Tool Replacement. Except as otherwise specified in Article and the Employer will provide all hand tools as required by each job classification to effectively perform the job. It is understood, and agreed, that all tools supplied by the Employer, shall belong to, and shall remain, the property of the Employer. Outside employees, who are required to supply their own personal tools, are reimbursed up to a sum of per contract year, with the exception of Fleet Mechanic, who shall be reimbursed per contract year, for new, broken, lost or out tools, at the discretion of the Supervisor. It is understood, and agreed, that all tools supplied by the Employer, shall belong to, and shall remain the property of the Employer. Tools provided to employees in the classifications of Fleet Mechanic, Certified Substation Electrician and Machinist would initially be purchased by the Employer and provided to new employees entering these trades. The tool allowance detailed in Article will be applied against the purchase price of such tools until the total tool purchase price has been recovered. Following this recovery of the total tool purchase price the tools would be the property of the employee. When employment is terminated or when an employee transfers to a classification which does not require the employee to have personal tools, with the exception of Certified Substation Electrician transferring to Station Response Representative, before the purchase price has been recovered by utilization of the tool replacement amounts, it is understood and agreed that the Employer will recover from the employee an amount equal to the remaining balance. Should this occur within three (3) years of being issued the tools, then the employee would have the option of returning all the tools, without rather than being required to pay the outstanding balance. In the event the Employer-issued tools which are not new, to a new employee in these above listed classifications, the employee will be credited with any amounts previously credited against these tools under this clause.

Such tools may be determined by the City to be taxable property and therefore the possibility exists that the City may impose an assessment. Should this occur the City agrees to assume any such tax up to the value of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). It is also understood that the City's acquisition of new automotive or aeronautical equipment may require the employees to purchase new tools for the purpose of servicing such equipment. The City therefore agrees to provide new tools that are required as a result of the introduction of new automotive or aeronautical equipment into the City's fleet. Such tools shall be assigned to, and shall become the responsibility of the affected employees. Upon termination of employment with the City, the employee shall return all such assigned tools. The current policy of "fair wear and tear" and tool discount program shall remain in effect.
