Unreadable Magnetic Stripes. When presenting Card Transactions for Authorization electronically, and Merchant’s terminal is unable to read the magnetic stripe on the Card, Merchant must obtain a Phone Authorization (either via Voice or Automated Response Service, both carry additional fees) and Merchant must obtain an imprint of the Card and also obtain the Cardholder’s signature on the imprinted Sales Draft before presenting the Sales Draft to Bank for processing. Failure to perform these additional actions may result in the assessment of Transaction surcharges or a rejected Transaction.
