Common use of Use of Explosive Clause in Contracts

Use of Explosive. No blasting shall be done except upon approval by the County and the governmental agency or political subdivision having jurisdiction. When the use of explosives is approved by the County as necessary for the execution of the work, the Contractor shall use the utmost care so as not to endanger life or property, and assume responsibility for any such damage resulting from its blasting operations and, whenever directed, the number and the size of the charges shall be reduced. All explosives shall be stored in a secure manner and all such storage places shall be marked clearly “DANGEROUS EXPLOSIVES” and shall be in the care of competent watchmen. All permits required for the use of explosives shall be obtained by the Contractor at its own expense. All requirements of the governmental agency issuing the permit shall be observed.
