Common use of Use of Explosives Clause in Contracts

Use of Explosives. No blasting shall be done except upon approval by the COUNTY and the governmental agency or political subdivision having jurisdiction. When the use of explosives is approved by the COUNTY as necessary for the execution of the work, the CONTRACTOR shall use the utmost care so as not to endanger life or property, and assume responsibility for any such damage resulting from his blasting operations, and whenever directed, the number and size of the charges shall be reduced. All explosives shall be stored in a secure manner and all such storage places shall be clearly marked, "DANGER EXPLOSIVES" and shall be in care of competent watchmen. All permits required for the use of explosives shall be obtained by the CONTRACTOR at his expense. All requirements of the governmental agency issuing permit shall be observed.
